second verse same as the first(monday's to-do list)

I got nothing accomplished this week, so...(insert last weeks to-do list here!)
  1. Borders on Wildlife quilt
  2. Round robin
  3. Row robin
  4. quilt/bind batik diamonds quilt
  5. quilt/bind Christmas bells runner
  6. bind bowtie quilt that is back from Beth!
  7. start baby boxes for brad's and mark's babies

Dd was sick when we arrived home from mom's and was home from school all week. About the time she started feeling better i was feeling sick. Now i'm finally almost better and guess who's got a fever today? Ds so now he is going to miss much of this week of school unless he bounces back much faster than dd and i did.

The other problem i have this week is i cannot find some pieces i was going to applique for a shop sample. I got the fusible on the backs of about 15 pieces, each about 3 or 4 inches square and they have all disapeared! I have more fabric and more fusible but i already did that! I dont wanna do it all over! HHHMMM.....guess i'm not really feeling that great yet-cause i'm whining!

baptism of Mia

There's baby Mia and her family and the Pastor who baptised her. That dress needed a close up but i did not get it. My sis had her wedding dress cut down to make the baptism gown! Its absolutly gorgeous with the beading and such on it. The fabric is such a heavy satin that it had to be a very simple gown....very few gathers and ruffles which fits my sis perfectly cause she is NOT a frilly person at all. We had a good time at mom's visiting for this occasion and can't wait to see them again. Mia is such a happy baby until food time. Then we have problems because when Mia wants to eat, she wants to eat RIGHT NOW!! This little girl has NO patience when it comes to her lunch which makes it really funny to see my sis trying to get the bottle ready and keep Mia from screaming too loudly.

my quilt police

These are my quilt police. The black one is Oso, he belongs to a friend who's in Iraq right now. He should be back by July or August so Oso is getting to play at our house for quite a while. The tan one is ours. Thats Tank-and he sounds like one when he runs across the floor when i'm in the basement. He's just a year old and still puppy playful. Above them is a bad pic of the wildlife quilt. Below is a closer up pic of it.

This is the big baby quilt for Tina's baby. The one i called the "film quilt" because i found fabric with film strips on it and since she and i worked at the photo studio together it seemed right for her.

done list!

I have all 7 things on my week's to do list done! welll....sort of. The wildlife quilt was supposed to get 10 extra blocks but it only got 5 because thats all the fabric i had left. Either way its ready for borders now. I dont think i'll be able to put up pics of the wildlife top or the finished film quilt until i get back from mom's on monday because i have no "quilt holders" around today.

while at mom's i get to go fabric shopping! i need to find: borders for the wildlife quilt, Moda purple for a RR, fancy purple(satin or velvet) for ds's dance costume, and maybe some easter dress fabric for dd. I've been trying hard not to buy fabric just beacuse i want it. Its been mostly working, so far this year i've only bought 13 yards. These upcoming purchases all are needed not just wanted so i feel justified going shopping! I also need to dig around....i think i have a full up frequent buyer card from a while back for one of the shops by mom's house. I might even get the borders for the wildlife quilt "free" with it!

One pic of something else i've been playing with this week: learning to decorate cakes!

Off the to-do list

This is the purple baby quilt i mentioned in an earlier post-the goal was to have this top done by the end of the week. So here it is-about 50in square and waiting for a back to be found. It may wait until I hear of a girl baby coming to the family or friends. That puts my quilty to-do list down from 5 to 2 for this week. I still need to get ready to go to mom's but thats gonna be an easy project.

tagged

I have been tagged by Swooze. http://swooze.blogspot.com/

THE RULES:

1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.

2. Post THE RULES on your blog.

3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.

4. Tag 7 people and link to them.

5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

Seven random or weird facts about me:

  1. I have a BS degree in Livestock Management-and i've never used it.
  2. I'm the oldest of 5 kids(3 boys and 2 girls)
  3. I can't wait for dh to get out of the AF so we can have our OWN house/farm.
  4. We are dog sitting for a friend who is Iraq for the next 6 months or so.
  5. Besides quilting I also crochet and scrapbook and am a voracious reader.
  6. I'm barely 5feet tall when barefoot.
  7. I'm taking classes on decorating cakes.

Now, i dont know if those are considered wierd or random but thats the best i can come up with. As for tagging 7 others.....i really dont read that many blogs and can't tag the few i do read beacuse they have already been tagged.

2 more finishes

This is the "fish" quilt I mentioned in my last post. I had it basted before Christmas and now its done! Its about 42 inches square and will be winging its way to a baby in Germany. His mom has been a friend simce grade school days and we were lucky enough to live near them when we were stationed in Germany.
This runner was also mentioned in the last post. Also basted before Christmas and now completed! This one is for my living room to go with the Bowtie quilt i'm expecting home from Beth who longarmed it for me. My living foom is slowly tending toward antique 30's type colors/styles.

Monday project list

I'm gonna try something new and post my to-do list here in my blog so I have some sort of accountability to keep me on track. So here goes:
  • assemble purple star baby top-done(tues)
  • quilt/bind 30's braid runner-done(mon)
  • quilt/bind Tina's "film" top(lap size)
  • quilt/bind Ruth's "fish" top(baby size)-done(mon)
  • make 10 blocks for the wildlife ufo(nye mystery from 2005 or 2006?)
  • find a crochet or other hand work project to take to mom's
  • pack and get ready to go to mom's. We leave Thursday after school.

I dont know if i'll really get that far but those need to be my top projects this week.

first finish of the year

I did it! I have got my First finish of 2008! this is just a little wall hanging that i decided to try. It is also my first attempt at Trapunto. not bad but i had a very hard time getting it straight and square. I can see that the top left corner is still not right.....oh well, its still kinda cute! This will proabably go to the kids dance teacher or one of the dance helpers at the end of the year.

hubby's project

No, my hubby has not started quilting...but this was his idea and he's helping with it. These 3 animals are patterns from a local gal who's done several others. Dh thought they'd look good in the stairwell so after he agreed to cut alllllll those little bits out i bought the fabric and got started. I got a dark brown/green/grey batik for the borders and they will hang in a long wall hanging to decorate the boring blank wall in the stairwell.
What do you think? Buffalo in the middle? or how shall i line them up?
