This is the mystery quilt I was working on yesterday after we opened gifts. Its a little brighter than I was expecting-garish is the word my mom used. Anyway I need some advice on borders. The easter eggs will be the outside border, do you like the blue(bottom)or the Purple(right side) or do you have another suggestion?

I like it bright and cheery! Think how fun that quilt would be on a cold winter day! The purple is much brighter than the blue and draws more attention to it. The blue is calmer, less obvious. Without seeing large portions of it I would suggest the blue to calm the whole thing down if you think it is a bit too bright.
I prefer the purple on the right side. If your quilt is too bright (to you) having a dark actually works better than a 'calm'.
If you really want to use either the lighter blue or the darker purple, I'd go with the darker purple, but to give the top a more cohesive look, I'd use the green for the skinny border outlining the center and then again as the binding instead of introducing one of the other two colors to the top.
I like the calming effect of the blue.
I love it! The colors are wonderful and I don't like green as a rule. I'd go with the purple border and consider a 1/4 inch or piping of the green between the purple and the Easter egg border. Be sure to let us know the outcome.
I like the purple myself.
Very nice Becky. Did you see the bonus clue Dorothy added. I think you would like that on your quilt then addition borders. I could not tell if your blocks were already sewn, but the blocks in the upper right hand corner did not follow the rest of the pattern.....maybe you did that on purpose, but I would hate for you to discover that after you added the borders. peggy
I vote for purple also!
i just made this mystery quilt too - and i had a similar border dilemma. my solution... make a flange from the dark blue/purple (finishes about 1/4" wide) then add a 2.5" border of the background color, then add your focus fabric border (what ever width you like) - it will look great! Viki
I prefer the purple. The light blue seems to get lost among the brighter colors but the purple can stand up for itself.
Way to go on getting your top done.
Mine is not yet started but having seen the outcomes know that I will make more than one.
I will use the pieced border that Dorothy added later - have you thought of doing that?
As for your inner border I like the purple.
